Ok, #1: that illustration is way cool. And #2: I have most recently been in love with a lemon-simmered kabocha squash recipe from the Washoku cookbook. And #3: Thank you for putting the canned pumpkin/butternut squash rumor to rest. I have been wondering about that.

I was pondering the "squash or pumpkin" question last week too. Thanks for clearing up the canned pumpkin confusion; I was under the impression that the cans contained Hubbard squash.

And thanks to Jennifer for her comment about the Washoku recipe for kabocha squash. Washoku is one of my favorite books, and there are plenty of squash in the market and lemons on my tree.

Thanks for the post. I've always been confused, but no more!
